Overview

Thorn-free stems and delicious summer fruits. Producing a generous crop of delicious, mid-season berries, this relatively compact blackberry is ideal for smaller gardens. The thorn-free stems make it easy to harvest the relatively large and succulent berries, which are a staple in summer puddings - if you can manage not to eat them all straight from the bush!

Care guide

Bare-root plants should be planted out as soon as they arrive. If this is not possible, they can be heeled in temporarily (covering their roots with soil) or potted up. Before planting, soak the rootball in a bucket of water for half an hour and make sure to incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole. Remove all weeds and allow 3m between each plant and 1.8m between rows. Once planted, shorten the canes to about 23cm (9in). Each spring, mulch well with well-rotted manure. Plants flower on one-year-old wood, so the new canes need to be separated from fruiting ones. After cropping, cut the fruiting canes down to the ground and tie in the new ones that have grown that year.

Bare root plants are either wrapped in plastic bags or waxed paper where possible and then placed into a cardboard box.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
