Overview

Fleece is often used to insulate plants against winter cold. In fact, without heat from the sun during winter, the temperature around uncovered plants will fall quite quickly and plants not used to the cold can die.

To protect your plants cover them with fleece to help them maintain an ambient temperature.

Fleece can be used to

  • Protect the ground from frost before you plant up for the Spring. Simply cover the soil for a week or two beforehand.
  • Place over newly planted Spring/Summer plants to protect from late frost or severe winds
  • Protect crops from late frosts aiding growth

      • You can still water your plants through the fleece and they will still benefit from the rain but check the water has got through on the first few waterings as some new fleeces may need to weather slightly before water does get through.

      Fleece can provide UV protection and is designed to be used in late Autumn through to Spring, it is best to remove the fleece in late Spring.
