Overview

A must-have border perennial. Tall branching stems carry dense clusters of violet coloured flowers throughout the summer and well into autumn. These are wonderful for adding height and structure to the border, while still maintaining a light and airy feel. Its long flowering period, statuesque habit and ability to blend into a wide range of planting styles, has made this beautiful perennial a firm favourite. This plant will help to sustain bees and butterflies into autumn with its tall wiry stems of purple flowers. It makes a good filler, because the upright stems prop neighbouring plants. Plant it among the warm-red Dahlia 'Bishop of Llandaff' and it will offer support, negating the need for staking, whilst providing a dazzling display. Growing instructions: Early sowings can be started off in late winter in seed trays kept under glass before hardening off and planting out. Alternatively, after the worst frosts have passed, sow directly into a sunny, well-prepared seed bed, thinning the seedlings out to 45-60cm as they grow. Pinching out the growing tips will encourage bushier plants to develop. Taller plants may need supporting with brushwood stems in exposed positions. Sow: February to May Flowering: June to October

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
