Overview

A large, bushy shrub or small tree with whorls of lustrous, wavy-margined, mid-green leaves on dark-grey to black stems. This evergreen Pittosporum makes a handsome informal hedge for a sunny coastal garden, sheltered from cold, drying winds. Often producing clusters of tiny, bell-shaped, honey-scented, blackish-red flowers in May and June, the foliage provides excellent material for indoor flower arrangements.

Care guide

When planting, add some well-rotted compost or manure and mycorrhizal fungi to the planting hole. Requires minimal pruning. To thin or reduce growth prune mid-spring and apply a generous 5-7 cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plant.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
