Overview

Sulphur yellow flowers, often with brown markings, appear from midsummer amongst the upright grey-green leaves of this vigorous water marginal. This native, evergreen yellow flag iris was once commonly found on marshy land and riversides and is ideal for planting at the margins of a large lake or pool. It also flourishes in deep, reliably moist soil that has been enriched with well-rotted organic matter. Great for wildlife and bog gardens, too.

Care guide

To encourage healthy growth of roots, foliage and flowers, feed with a general-purpose or slow-release aquatic fertiliser. Remove yellow or brown leaves to keep the plant healthy and the water clean. Cut water iris to just above the water line in autumn if you live in a cooler part of the country.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
