Overview

Tubular, apricot-pink flowers that are attractively spotted inside their throat with brownish-maroon, form along one side of the impressive spike in early summer. Over a period of several months, they open from the base upwards above the slightly hairy foliage.

Care guide

Ensure that the soil is kept moist in summer. After flowering cut back the flowered spikes to encourage more sideshoots. Cut down to the ground after flowering. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the plant in early spring. These plants are mainly biennial, although they will produce plenty of new sideshoots and self-seed freely.

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.
