Overview

Glauca' is an impressive and blue variety of evergreen conifer that develops into a large, spreading tree. The short needles are arranged in small clusters and are silvery-white when young, maturing to blue-green. The purple-brown, upright cones up to 10cm long, mature over a long period and are a permanent feature on mature trees. A true giant of a plant in all senses of the word, this robust plant is native to the Atlas mountains of Algeria and Morocco, and ideally needs space where it can properly develop its magnificent, spreading form.

Care guide

Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in autumn. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.

How your order will arrive

Pots and Packaging
Larger pots (2L and above) are wrapped in waxed paper and then attached to a cardboard base so they stay stable in the box. The waxed paper prevents the compost from spilling out and gives the base some added protection from damp compost. For large numbers of plants, pallets may be used for shipping.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
