Overview

Grey-green fronds heavily dusted with silver. This deciduous fern will slowly spread by underground rhizomes to form low clumps or finely divided green leaves, which look like they have been heavily dusted with silver. The beautiful colouring is made even more dramatic by the dark marron midribs. The colour is best in spring, especially when planted in partial shade. Provided it gets reliable moisture, it is very easy to grow in neutral to acidic soils. Use it as underplaning in a woodland garden wher it will naturalise well, or leave it to spill over the edges of a shady path.

Care guide

Incorporate lots of well-rotted leaf mould, composted pine needles or garden compost into the planting hole. In cold areas in late autumn protect the crown of the plant with a dry mulch of straw or bracken.

Pots and Packaging
Our 9cm pots are given extra packaging to protect the plant. This extra packaging consists of a recyclable plastic blister pack which is then placed in a cardboard box for delivery.

Preparation
The nursery will ensure the plant is moist while it's waiting to be picked up. Our quality control team waters the plant before packing them where necessary to make sure that the plant is suitably watered for transport. Plants with long delicate stems are secured with canes to prevent damage.

Typically plants are delivered ready to plant and will take some time to settle, grow and look more like the product image above.
