This distinctive form of Pontederia showcases its allure with striking clumps of glossy green foliage, complemented by pure white flower spikes, a rare departure from the typical blue blooms of the species form. Known for its irresistible charm to bees, this aquatic perennial thrives as a marginal plant in sunny pond environments. With its large, lustrous leaves and densely packed late summer blooms, Pontederia cordata f. albiflora adds both visual appeal and ecological value to shallow waters, extending the season of interest beyond that of many other aquatic species.

Care guide

Contain in an aquatic planting basket lined with hessian to limit its spread in smaller pond settings. Before planting apply a 2.5cm top-dressing of pea shingle or gravel to prevent the top layer of the planting medium from clouding the water. Place at the margins of a pond at a depth of 8-15cm (3-6"). Low maintenance, trim only to check growth.
